The Challenge

The client is a mental health technology platform built on a powerful idea: finding a therapist should feel as natural as finding a great match not as clinical as navigating a medical database. The tagline says it best: “Because it’s not just what you talk about it’s who you talk to.”
The challenge was building something that had never been built before for this client. They needed a full two sided marketplace platform not a simple booking page or a directory listing, but a living platform serving two completely different user types simultaneously: people seeking mental health care, and licensed therapists and providers looking for clients. Each side needed its own flows, its own features, and its own value proposition.
On top of the platform complexity, they needed a sophisticated matching system that went far beyond specialty filtering. Real therapy matching requires understanding personality, communication style, cultural background, identity, vibe, and therapeutic approach none of which generic directory tools are built to handle.
Key challenges:
- Building a platform from scratch that serves two completely different user types
- Creating a matching system sophisticated enough to capture personality, vibe, and cultural fit not just specialty
- Provider onboarding flow that captures enough data to power meaningful matches
- Care seeker experience that feels warm and accessible, not clinical or overwhelming
- Subscription monetization for providers while keeping access free for care seekers
- Search and filtering across 15+ dimensions without overwhelming users
About The Platform
The Solution
NexaVista built TherapList as a complete two sided marketplace platform the most technically complex build in NexaVista’s portfolio. Every feature was designed to serve two audiences simultaneously while making the experience feel simple and human for both.

Platform Architecture Overview
The Transformation: Before & After
Why It Worked
Connection first design philosophy
Rather than building a clinical database, the platform was architected around the idea that the right therapist relationship starts with fit vibe, communication style, and cultural understanding not just a credential list. Every filter dimension reflects that philosophy.
Sophisticated matching without complexity
15+ filter dimensions sounds overwhelming. The UI hides that complexity behind progressive disclosure top level quick filters (Concerns, Specialities, Vibe, etc.) and an “All Filters” modal for deeper matching. Users only see what they want to engage with.
Sustainable monetization architecture
Keeping the platform free for care seekers while charging providers ($10/month) creates a network effect business model: more providers join to reach care seekers, more care seekers join because the provider pool grows. The revenue model was built into the platform from day one.
Built for growth
With 21 providers at launch and infrastructure that scales, TherapList has the foundation to grow into a nationally recognized mental health marketplace without needing to rebuild any core systems.
